Warner Robins Law Enforcement Center
JMA Architecture assisted the City of Warner Robins to evaluate the needs of the Police Department, which was housed in a 1960’s facility, and to evaluate the Department’s options for expansion. This study recommended a new 44,000-square-foot facility that includes administrative, investigation, patrol, training, and dispatch areas, a state-of-the-art crime lab, and a tiered roll call room that can be used for conferences as well as training events.
Perry High School
The creation of a significant new entrance and addition to this 50's-era educational building has enhanced the image and influence of this important building within the community. The addition provides a new and impressive face to the community, emphasizing the building's importance, as well as 20 new classrooms, science labs, a media center, an administration suite, and a student common area. The entry lobby, with its two-story space, is a delightful and welcome entrance to the campus.
Nola Brantley Branch Library
This 1960’s library was updated and expanded from 11,000 to 25,516 SF. JMA’s design provided a central colonnade that unifies the spaces and function of the facility. The updated “arts and crafts” interior finishes provide a classic style and minimize maintenance costs. New energy-efficient lighting provides light levels that are appropriate for each area of the building. The new HVAC system incorporates technology to maintain comfort for all patrons of the library and reduce operating costs.
Perry Branch Library
The redesign of this library created an open plan with great natural light, eliminating as much internal structure and obstruction as possible and placing the circulation desk in a central and functional location. Additionally, a new entrance with automatic doors and a covered drop-off was added. The facility also includes an expanded children’s department, a local history room, a board/meeting room, and administrative space for the library and library system staff.
Houston County Government Center
The renovation of this 27,000-square-foot facility provided the initiative for the downtown revitalization of this traditional southern county seat town. The exterior of the building maintains its historic character while receiving new energy-efficient glazing systems and standing seam roofing. Custom-glazed bricks, selected 50 years ago, were successfully matched, and significant areas of weathered brick and mortar were replaced.
Cornelia Senior & Community Center
This adaptive reuse, restoration, and renovation of a historic and important downtown landmark transformed this building into a senior and community center. This facility has been redesigned to provide a variety of spaces, both studio and performance, for use by local theater and dance groups, as well as the fine arts. The building exterior, which has been "modernized," will be returned to much of its original and historic appearance.
Unadilla City Hall
Constructed in the early 1900’s as a cotton warehouse, this building also served as a Chevrolet dealership. JMA developed a program that includes the functions of the city government and a 4,000-square-foot community center. The character of the existing building was restored to reflect its appearance in more prosperous times. The interior structure, electrical, and HVAC systems were replaced with current technology, enhancing the building's value into the future.
Houston County Judicial Center
This 225,000-square-foot judicial center includes four courts: the Office of the District Attorney, the Public Defender's Office, the Office of the Court Clerk, and the County Jail. The entire complex includes more than sixty acres of masterplanned development. JMA Architecture, Inc., and HDR were associated architects on this project. The jail provides over 500 beds and is a direct/indirect supervision facility.
Fire Station No. 8
This 3-bay, 8,367-square-foot facility includes space for the fire department and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel. The 8,367-square-foot station consists of 6,564 square feet of space for the fire department and 1,803 square feet for the EMS area. The station additionally includes an administrative area, dormitory space for 9 with separate spaces for men and women, men’s and women’s locker rooms and restrooms, two-person EMS sleeping chambers, 2 full-sized kitchens, an exercise room, and a large day room.
Perry Animal Shelter
The new facility, as constructed, provides 21 kennel spaces, with conditioned interior kennels for all animals. An exterior run, covered to keep out extreme sun and rain, shelters the exterior portion of each run. Service access to each kennel is facilitated by an interior corridor system and conveniently placed building utilities. The new facility also has suites for animal quarantine and isolation, as well as a veterinary operatory for procedures to be performed on site.
